General election day started on November 8, 2016. The two main candidates were Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. After a long day of voting, Donald Trump won the presidential election. When Trump was announced president, many people disagreed with the results. They were upset at the fact that he won the election even with all the terrible remarks he made during his campaign. To get their voices heard, people are protesting against Trump saying he is a misogynist, racist, and cruel man. They feel as if he will make our country awful.
Many people who are against Trump are saying that he is racist. During his speeches, he has said racial slurs to people and they find it very offensive. Some people also say he is cruel. While in a campaign trial, Trump disrespected a disabled reporter, Serge Kovaleski. In my opinion, I think it was very immature and rude of him to do that. He shouldn't have teased Kovaleski because it sets a bad image for himself and many others found that nothing else but offensive. Others say that Trump is a sexist/misogynist because he thinks down of women. He has insulted most girls, and now women want to stand up for themselves.
I think that this election can have an impact on my life because Donald Trump can make a few changes in America that can effect everyone. He can make it possible to do most things he said he would do to make America "great again" Some things Trump wants to do to change our country is:
build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and make Mexico pay for it
repeal/call off Obamacare and replace it with something exceeding
temporarily ban foreign Muslims from entering the United States
I do not agree with his choices because I feel that it can effect others and their families. I think that if Trump decides to make any of those changes, people will only get angry. Everyone should stay calm and try to cooperate with some decisions Trump makes so nothing will escalate and make things worse. If we want to make a difference we need to be responsible and not let anything get out of hand.
People feel that they will be heard by protesting against Trump. Students are walking out of class and people are starting riots. They're doing a lot of protesting because they want everyone to hear their opinion. They feel that Donald Trump is not qualified to run America. These people want to be able to have a say in this situation and to be listened to. Most people who do not support Trump are trying to make a difference. I feel that it is fine that people are protesting against him, but if they want to be heard they should do it in a nonviolent way.
In conclusion, some people were very unhappy with the election results. Once Donald Trump was announced the new president, people wanted to change that. They stared protesting against him wanting to make a difference and wanting their opinion to be heard. However, Trump supporters believe that he is able to run America and make it a better place. They agree with everything Trump has to say and what he wants to do. Trump supporters want the things Trump says done, but others do not. They refuse to let Trump do the things he has promised to do. Both the Trump supporters and non Trump supporters want to make a difference. I think everyone should be calm and help each other out. They need to try to make America better with their decisions and actions.
